Our Programmes

At Eridutus Ghana, our programmes are designed to address critical social care issues, with a focus on gender equality and child protection. Each programme is crafted to meet the unique needs of marginalised and excluded groups, ensuring they receive the support and resources necessary to thrive.

Gender Equality Initiatives

Our gender equality initiatives aim to empower women and girls, promote their rights, and foster an inclusive society. We work on multiple fronts to achieve these goals:

  • Women's Empowerment Workshops: Offering skills training, financial literacy, and leadership development to women in local communities.
  • Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Raising awareness about gender-based violence, discrimination, and promoting gender equality through public events and media campaigns.
  • Support Services for Survivors: Providing counselling, legal assistance, and safe spaces for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Education for Girls: Ensuring access to quality education for girls through scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship programmes.

Child Protection Programmes

Our child protection programmes are dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of children, particularly those who are most vulnerable:

  • Child Welfare Services: Offering comprehensive support including health care, nutrition, and psychological counselling for children in need.
  • Child Labour Prevention: Working with communities and local authorities to eliminate child labour through education, awareness, and economic support for families.
  • Safe Haven Centres: Providing safe and nurturing environments for children at risk of abuse, neglect, or trafficking.
  • Education and Development: Enhancing educational opportunities and personal development through after-school programmes, sports activities, and creative arts workshops.

Social Care Projects

Our social care projects focus on improving the overall quality of life for marginalised groups through sustainable and community-driven initiatives:

  • Community Health Initiatives: Providing health education, medical camps, and access to essential health services in underserved areas.
  • Economic Empowerment: Supporting livelihood projects such as microfinance, vocational training, and entrepreneurship programmes to help individuals achieve economic independence.
  • Housing and Infrastructure Development: Collaborating with local communities to build safe, affordable housing and improve infrastructure like clean water and sanitation facilities.

Peace Building and Conflict Resolution

Facilitate dialogue, mediation, and peacebuilding initiatives to promote harmony and resolve conflicts within communities.

Poverty Alleviation Programmes

Implement livelihood projects, financial literacy programs, and income-generating activities to reduce poverty and promote economic empowerment.

Youth Development Activities

Organise mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, and recreational activities to engage and empower young people in Ghana.

Research and Advocacy

Research and advocacy are at the core of our efforts to drive systemic change. Our work in this area includes:

  • Baseline research studies: This essentially the starting point for our projects and interventions. We intend to establish a benchmark, like a snapshot of a current situation, to be used for comparison later. The breakdown of what we do in our baseline studies are as follows: - Purpose: Measure the impact of the situation by establishing a reference point before it begins; Applications: Our studies are mainly in the social care, gender and children’s issues. For example, in a baseline study we might look to see what the impact children upbringings can have on their IQs and cognitive abilities in completing the basic education in a school to advice basic educational institutions before implementing a new teaching method; Data Collection: The data collected in our baseline study can come from both primary (using empirical surveys, interviews, focus groups etc) and secondary data (using existing records)
  • Policy Research: Conducting in-depth studies on social care issues to inform policy and practice at local, national, and international levels.
  • Advocacy Campaigns: Engaging with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public to advocate for the rights of marginalised groups and push for legislative reforms.
  • Publications and Reports: Publishing research findings, policy briefs, and reports to share knowledge and influence public discourse on social care issues.
  • Capacity Building: Providing training and resources to other NGOs, community organisations, and government agencies to strengthen the overall social care framework.
